Another first for ENACCT
ENACCT has commenced the first ever Learning Collaborative focused on increasing accrual to cancer treatment clinical trials. Collaboratives have been utilized to systematically improve care delivery systems and patient outcomes for multiple health conditions in a variety of settings, including cancer screening and treatment. ENACCT’s unique project has generated enthusiasm and excitement from industry, NCI, ASCO, advocates, and clinical trial accrual experts nationwide.
On November 4th and 5th 2010, experts in cancer clinical trial recruitment gathered in Bethesda to work with ENACCT on this project. Over 2 days, the panel vetted and enhanced a package of evidence based initiatives from published literature and personal experience that have been shown to increase accrual into cancer treatment clinical trials. During 2011, six community based cancer centers will select activities from this final package of initiatives to implement at their sites and evaluate the changes. It is hoped that this Learning Collaborative will positively impact accrual rates into cancer clinical trials from the current rate of 3%.
