PEP Goals and Objectives Application Process Funded Programs Why is This Program Important?

The application process is now closed.

The PEP is a comprehensive, community-centered outreach and education pilot program that seeks to address the issue of community literacy around clinical trials—changing knowledge, attitudes and beliefs and intention among both health care providers and community leaders—to ultimately enhance access and increase accrual to clinical trials.

Through a national competitive award process, the PEP will provide three grants to existing, effective community-based partnerships at $150,000 per year for 3 years to develop, with the active engagement and influence of community members, unique approaches to

  • fostering awareness about cancer clinical trials,
  • enhancing their acceptability, and
  • improving access to them.

The Partnerships will also receive ongoing technical assistance, evaluation and training services provided by the ENACCT PEP program staff. The action-oriented programs implemented, and the lessons learned from them, will help inform and improve patient recruitment planning and activities nationwide.

This program is made possible by funding from the Lance Armstrong Foundation, dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for those living with, through and beyond cancer.
