What's New at COHS
In early 2007, COHS began to increase the visibility and familiarity of cancer clinical trials with the Breaking It Down Initiative (BID). They have been disseminating information at a number of area community health and cancer related events, such as The COHS Black History Month Celebration; The Knowledge, Strength, and Grace Breast Cancer Conference; and The Massachusetts Prostate Cancer Symposium.
COHS has presented cancer clinical trial workshops to a number of area health care institutions, advocacy groups, and civic organizations such as the Dana Farber Community Engagement Committee, Beth Israel Deaconess Multicultural Taskforce on Cancer, REACH 2010 Breast and Cervical Coalition and the New England Regional Black Nurses Association. At the end of the first quarter, they had succeeded in training 17 community leaders.
