What's New at the Cross Cultural Collaborative

By June, the Cross Cultural Collaborative of Pierce County Community Navigators have conducted 5 workshops to 73 community leaders, gave 84 presentations, reaching 506 people and helped enroll three patients into cancer clinical trials.

Our Advisory and Policy Committee is continuing to collaborate with Northwest CCOP (its local Cancer Community Oncology Program) to approve the use of the “short form” in the informed consent process, which may reduce language barriers to cancer clinical trials. The CCOPs IRB is considering the possibility of utilizing this form for Limited English Proficiency Populations.

The Collaborative is hosting ENACCT’s “Optimizing Your Trial Recruitment and Retention Practices” training for cancer clinical trials staff this September and our Health Care Professional Training of Trainers is set for Oct. 30th – Nov. 1st.

For more information about any of the above information or to learn more about the Collaborative’s future events, feel free to contact us at 253-798-2947.
